Welcome to Rest & Relish! I am writing my very first blog post after months (no, years!) of contemplating starting a blog. I look forward to chronicling the ways in which I work to created a well-balanced life for myself and family. Most importantly, the blog is a way to hold myself accountable to goals I hope to achieve to create a peaceful. organized and healthy life. In the words of Virginia Woolf,
“Nothing has really happened until it has been recorded”.
I have been married to my husband for 14 years and we have two children (seven-year-old twins!). The kids will turn eight in just a few weeks and I have become increasingly aware lately of how quickly they are growing up. I value our family time together and think a comfortable, organized environment is a good foundation for peaceful days in our lives.
I love to cook healthy meals for my family. I am a pescatarian planning meals for bacon-loving people! Mealtime can be challenging with different palates and restrictions, as well as after-school activities sprinkled throughout the week. Each season and year are different and I am still adjusting to what works best for our family, but I enjoy the process of creating meals that we all enjoy! Meal planning is an important tool to keep us organized and healthy!
The idea of a full and balanced life is especially appealing to me this year as I am approaching a milestone birthday in a few months. A full life to me is not filled with endless activities and social engagements, but one in which I dive deep and really participate in life. I want to share in experiences with my family. We love spending time together exploring nature and local cuisine, but I do hope to expand the kids’ horizons with more travel now that they can “hang” a little better. We are currently prepping for a Mexican vacay and their first passport stamp!
I look forward to sharing my musings, projects, recipes and more, and most importantly, documenting our family’s adventures and life for my children.
